Dear Friends of LIFT:
All of us at LIFT hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Since the March 5 public announcement of our merger with the Aberg Center for Literacy—which goes into effect on July 1, 2020—much has changed in our world.
The strength of LIFT adult education programs is the relationships that develop between our hard-working students, volunteers, staff, Board of Directors, and you! Those relationships are what sustain us during this time.
LIFT staff and volunteers pivoted quickly to remote learning programs after stopping in-person classes on March 16. First, we contacted all students immediately to determine how they and their loved ones were faring and to provide comfort and resources. The majority of students want to continue their lessons. We are using a variety of media—Facebook LIVE, WhatsApp, Zoom, FaceTime, and even phones—to deliver lessons in GED Prep, English as a Second Language, the SEE curriculum, and forklift certification classes.
