On March 31 we celebrated the ninth annual Toast to Literacy event. It was the first time we were able to hold the event in person in more than two years. For too long we have been unable to see many of our supporters in person and that made this event incredibly special.

We welcomed old and new friends alike. In Aspire’s annual strategic plan, gross revenues from events account for more than twenty percent of total budgeted support. We are deeply grateful to all who contributed to this year’s event success.

Fundraising events like this and our fall breakfast are about much more than numbers. Aspire is dedicated to developing confident and capable individuals who value learning as a gateway to a better life. While our work often concentrates on how we develop impactful relationships with our students to foster their achievements, our work is also focused on deepening relationships with our donors—to foster their love of learning about the community in which they live and work.

Everyone who attends a fundraising event hopefully leaves having had a relaxing and enjoyable time. At every event the attendees unofficially become advocates for those who do not have a voice. We hope they understand more about the people we serve and the circumstances that molded them. We hope that our guests hear the pride and confidence our students gain by improving their literacy levels and workforce skills. We believe learning helps us give the best of ourselves to our communities.
