Name: David Ostrovsky
Position at Aspire: Operations Coordinator
- What is your background? Where are you from? Have you lived in different cities?
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A family of 5, I’m the youngest of 3 boys. So far, I have lived in Buenos Aires, Los Angeles and Dallas.
- Growing up, what did you do for fun, and hobbies? Do you have any hobbies now?
Growing up I was into sports, like snowboarding and music: going to concerts, playing the guitar and DJing. I have kept the same hobbies! I am also enjoying tremendously spending time with my dog, meditating and traveling (with my dog, duh!).
- Did you go to university or college? Field of study?
University, field of study: Information Technology.
- What were you like as a student?
I would be immensely bored during class and couldn’t understand why so much time was needed to explain even the simplest subjects. However, I feel things have changed now and education is more dynamic and more of a hands-on approach… like our Workforce training program!
- Tell us about your first job and professional history.
I was in high school and with a friend we were the founders of an eCommerce start-up, back in the 90s! We were not even 18! It’s 2022 now, and the company is still in business! computershopping.com.ar. Also, before joining Aspire I worked for more than 10 years at Kimberly-Clark.

WORKING AT ASPIRE
- When did you begin working for Aspire (LIFT or ABERG)?
I began working at LIFT in December 2018.
- What do you like best about working at Aspire?
Helping people and being able to give back. I love helping people! A few years ago, I lost my speech and mobility due to Lyme Disease. People from all over the world that did not even know me helped me by donating for my medical treatment and giving me a place to stay. When I moved to the U.S. people opened their homes for me to stay so I could attend my medical treatment and get my physical health back! The main reason I'm now able to work, talk, walk… enjoy life! It’s because of the kindness of people. I want to do the same, I want to help others simply because… I can! I truly believe that what goes around, comes around!
- What makes you the proudest of our students and what do you hope for our students?
I am most proud of their hard work and their capacity of adapting to changes. I’m amazed at how easy they were able to switch from in-person to virtual classes. I hope for their physical, mental and financial wellness!
