Volunteering is Good for Your Health!
Did you know that there are many health benefits to volunteering? The 2017 Doing Good is Good for You Study conducted by United Healthcare and VolunteerMatch found positive effects of volunteering on the health of the person involved.
Nearly all volunteers (93%) reported an improvement in mood and improved self-esteem (88%). A study by Carnegie Mellon University revealed that adults over fifty who volunteered on a regular basis were less likely to develop high blood pressure.
Many Aspire volunteers who teach online evening classes are employed full-time. Working professionals report they develop professional skills (87%) and improve time management (86%). Companies benefit as 71% of employees report they feel better about their employer.
Aspire volunteers know that learning helps us give the best of ourselves to our communities. We welcome you to apply to become a volunteer teacher in the GED Prep and English as a Second Language (taught in English) adult literacy programs. No previous teaching experience is required and our team provides the training needed on adult curricula. Learn more and apply at www.aspiretolearn.org/volunteer.
